FARPOINT ART SHOW
Hiya! This is Cindy Woods and Heather Mikkelsen, Art Show Co-Chairs. We are
looking forward to a great Art Show and we hope you’ll be joining us!
Farpoint 2008 will be held Feburary 15, 16 and 17, 2008 at Marriott's Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Maryland. You can contact us via the following:
Snail-mail:
ATTN: Farpoint Art Show
c/o Cindy Woods
7876 Cheverly Lane
Glen Burnie, MD 21060
E-mail: crlwoods@yahoo.com
Website: www.farpointcon.com
Here are the major points:
- Our convention emphasizes, but is not limited to, science fiction, fantasy, media and Trek.
- We request all artists pre-register by February 1, 2008 so we can determine space allotments. To pre-register, simply send us an e-mail to the above address with your name, address, whether you are a mail-in or an attending artist and how many panels and/or tables you will require. No control sheet is required until you send us your art. Mail-in artists can send us the non-attending fee and return shipping costs in advance (we won’t say no to money!) or they can send it when they send in their art. IF YOU DO NOT PRE-REGISTER, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE WE WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE ALL THE SPACE YOU REQUEST.
- Registration with the convention is required; mail-in artists pay a $15.00 non-attending fee.
- Due to space considerations, we must limit the amount of 2D art (art displayed on panels) to 30 PIECES, and the amount of 3D are (art displayed on tables) to 15 PIECES. If you are mailing in art work, please list your pieces in order of preference in case we cannot display them all.
- The mail-in art deadline will be February 6, 2008.
- There is no hanging fee for items entered for sale; however the Art Show does collect a 12% commission on all sales.
- Bid sheets will be prepared BY US for all mail-in artists. If you plan on attending the con and would like to have us prepare your bid sheets, please contact us by February 3, 2008.. We will ask for an advance copy of your control sheet.
- We NO LONGER have a print shop.
- We WILL AGAIN offer items for quick sale. When the Art Show opens on Saturday morning, if a piece of art has no bids on it, it may be purchased at the quick sale price.
- We WILL be offering our Young Artists’ Showcase this year. If you are a budding Hildebrandt, Whelan or Rowena, and you are 12 years of age or under, we invite you to showcase your work with us! We will accept two or three pieces of artwork per artist and display them in a special area of our Art Show. Ribbons will be awarded by a panel of local artists and Art Show staff. Young artists who attend the convention will be allowed to hang their work at no charge; young artists who would like to mail in their work can do so as well. All we ask is return postage to mail the art back to you. By giving them a special venue, we hope to encourage budding artists to develop their talents.
- Our complete guidelines will be provided upon request.
Please don’t hesitate to pass this information on to anyone you know who may be interested in participating. Or send us their name and address (snail-mail or e-mail) and we’ll be sure to get in touch with them. We look forward to hearing from you and including you in this year’s convention! We can’t do it without you!
