Friday evening at Farpoint starts off with a Banquet that is attended by many of our actor, author and scientist guests. The banquet is an additional item that can be purchased on top of your weekend membership. The price changes annually, as it is the amount charged to us by the hotel for the catering services. For the last couple of years, it has been $45 per person for a 3 course meal: salad course, your choice of a beef, chicken, or vegetarian entree with side dishes and beverage, and a dessert course. A children's meal is available. A cash bar is open during the banquet as well.

Banquet FAQ
Q: Why is the banquet important? Isn't is just for committee and others "in the know"?
A: The banquet is the kickoff for the entire con. It is a chance for all of us - guests, fans, committee and staff - to gather together, renew friendships and relax at the start of our 3-day weekend. Yes, you'll see a lot of committee members and staff there (it's usually our last chance for a decent meal the entire weekend!), but the banquet is open to everyone at Farpoint.
Q: Can I get a seat with an actor, author or scientist?
A: It's certainly possible! Seats are reserved for each guest and their escort, but there are open seats at every table.
Q: How about an autograph?
A: We encourage fans to NOT ask for autographs during the banquet. The banquet is a chance for everyone to talk and relax. We want our guests and fans to feel comfortable with us and enjoy the banquet and following radio play. An impromptu autograph session has the potential of disrupting the serving of the meal and the rest of the evening's schedule. The banquet, radio play, charity auction and evening movie all take place in the same ballroom, making the logistics tight.
Q: How do I get tickets and choose my entree?
A: When you register for Farpoint, the registration form has a separate banquet ticket choice. Make sure you indicate that you want to purchase a banquet ticket, and include the $45 ticket cost along with your payment for your convention membership. Once the menu and final price is set with the hotel, we will contact you to let you know the final price and ask for your entree selection.
Q: Ive already bought my Farpoint membership. Can I add on a banquet ticket?
A: Of course! Send us an e-mail at trekcontact@comcast.net and let us know how many banquet tickets you want, and the name you are pre-registered under. We'll get back to you on how to submit payment and match up your banquet order with the rest of your pre-registration information.
Q: Are banquet tickets available at the door?
A: Sometimes, but there's no guarantee. To be certain you get a seat, you should order your banquet tickets in advance.
