Volunteers

DO YOU HAVE AN HOUR OF FREE TIME?

As good as Team Farpoint is, we can’t be everywhere and do everything that is needed to make Farpoint go. That’s where you come in! Volunteers fill jobs that help the committee and staff, working as tech crew, art show crew, masquerade helpers, badge checkers and in other areas of the convention.

How do I become a Volunteer and how long do I have to work? Just sign up via email at volunteers@farpointcon.com or stop by the Volunteer/Information table at the convention. You can donate as little as an hour of your free time.

We currently have openings for:

  • Night Tech Crew Set Up and Break Down: This consists of helping our technical crew set up the convention space for sound, lights and video. We’ll need people for Thursday setup from 6-10 PM, Saturday 6-8 PM (if needed for Masquerade set up), and Sunday 6-9 PM for break down, all in the Ballroom.
  • Cosplay/Costuming Contest Helpers: This can be a ‘den parent’ in the green room to assist contestants or a helper backstage or a ‘catcher’ in front to help the contestants leave the stage.  Please note that ‘catchers’ MUST be an adult and be able to assist Cosplayers as they leave the stage. Catchers must have dark clothing to wear to avoid distracting audience from the show.
  • Art Show: This consists of assisting with the Art Show setu on Thursday evening from 6-9 PM and helping with room tear down Sunday 1-3 PM
  • Badge Checkers: Shifts would be no more than an hour at a time. Stationed at the entrance to convention areas, it’s a great chance to people watch as you make sure convention badges are prominently displayed and great for people watching!

We will know more about where Volunteers are needed closer to the convention dates.  Check back to see if we have any additional places for you to help us out!
