Staging a Panel at Farpoint
- ALL requests to stage a panel must go through the Farpoint committee, specifically the programming chairperson.
- Ideas can be submitted to our Programming Team (Programs@Farpointcon.com) with "Programming Idea" in the subject line. Other committee members who receive suggestions will make every effort to bring them to the team's attention, but it's best to submit your suggestions directly to them through this e-mail address.
- All fans are welcome to submit panel ideas.
- If you submit your idea, that does not mean you have to speak as a panel member unless you wish to.
- We cannot guarantee that everyone who volunteers for a particular panel will be assigned as a panelist.
- Fans who want to be a panel participant are paired with at least one other panelist to ensure that (a) the panel goes off in the event someone doesn't show and (b) differing viewpoints are represented.
- Your submitted idea may be combined with similar ideas from other fans into a single panel. Or if your idea came in late we may have to postpone using it to another year.
- You do not have to be a member of the Farpoint committee or staff to be a panel speaker/moderator, although you will see individual committee or staff members taking part in panels that are of interest to them. Most panelists are not committee members; they are fans who simply enjoy being a part of the con and bringing panel ideas to life.
Our fan members are a huge help in bringing diversity to our programming, especially with the multiple active fandoms we see today. Thanks to everyone who lends a hand at Farpoint, and keep the ideas coming!
